Figured I'd update the site a little since I've been slacking on it lately. I decided it was time to leave Cogent and move onto greener pastures. I've settled down at a new company. I'm doing all sorts of fun things now, mainly working with internal systems, monitoring, traffic management, etc. More of an engineering thing than a NOC thing. My daughter is getting so big now. She's too cute for words. I guess this fatherhood thing is agreeing with me more than I thought it would, which is a good thing. I want to be a good dad, and not a deadbeat. That's all for now. Time to trade in my 2001 firebird for something more family oriented.

Yep. Our daughter was born last Saturday. She's a wonderfull baby. Very quiet, easy to care for, etc. I'm hoping it stays that way for a while. She's also extremely cute and has a great personality to boot. I'll be posting some pics at some point for all to see.

So we found out that the baby is due on March 16th, and not March 27th. That was quite a shock. It's only 11 days difference, but still it's sooner, which was unexpected. She's doing a lot of kicking lately, last night she nearly bounced my hand off of my wife's tummy. It was really weird! Soon...

I never imagined how much a father actually could be responsible for in the delivery of a baby. I must say I'm rather overwhelmed right now with the awesome responsibilities that I'll have to undertake during what will be a very stressful time. I've always handled stress badly, at least in my opinion, and I know that I'll have to be stronger than ever to give Lisa the support she'll need during labor. I've been reading books, magazines, watching videos (don't ever watch afterbirth, it's freaky), and they all make it look easy, but I think that's just the people on camera trying not to tear each other apart. Well the woman not tearing the man apart anyway. I've learned that there will be several visual cues that I'll need to watch for, along with emotional response, etc. I hope for the sake of my wife that I can hold it together and be the support she will need to get through what will be the hardest work she's ever done in her life. I'll keep reading those books, talking to my teacher and learning whatever I can to help.
